12 Travel Books for Christmas

I asked my Tweeps... what? You don't Twitter ? Well, "Tweeps" are your friends on Twitter , and if you read all 12 blog posts, you will have a bunch of Tweeps within a few weeks. My Tweeps are recommending books for you to buy, to give, or to keep this year. They are all travel books -- some will take you far away. Others are closer to home. Some of my Tweeps are recommending their own books. Others are recommending authors they love themselves.

So, here's my gift for you... the first of 12 Travel Books for Christmas.

Recommended by: MinnesotaFats  who says it's a "great read" (and I personally agree)
Blue Latitudes: Boldly Going where Captain Cook has gone Before by Tony Horwitz
Summary: "Horwitz worked as a sailor aboard a replica of Cook’s ship. Two centuries after James Cook’s epic voyages, Horwitz takes readers on a ride across centuries to explore Cook’s legacy in today’s Pacific. Bill Bryson calls it 'thoroughly enjoyable. No writer has better captured the heroic enigma that was Captain James Cook than Tony Horwitz in this amiable and enthralling excursion around the Pacific.' Horwitz is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist with the Wall Street Journal and author of Baghdad Without a Map.  -- excerpted from BookPassage.com
So, now you have two people to be friends with on Twitter (MinnesotaFats and me ).  And one of twelve book suggestions!  Merry merry!
